Walking and traveling in the English Peak District and further afield
This website is about walks of 3-5 hours or longer connecting to public transport so you can be brave and leave the car at home!
There are a lot of people who document their walks on the internet, but this site is different. We aim to take interesting routes from bus-stop to bus-stop or train to train. We're aiming for low environmental impact but high impact enjoyment.
Initially we'll be concentrating on the area around Buxton, Derbyshire and the Peak District. Buxton is almost completely surrounded by the beautiful Peak District National Park. It has regular trains to Manchester and Stockport. There is a good bus service from Macclesfield and Derby too. It's a great base to start from.
There will be directions, maps, and UK GPS coordinates along with video and a written description of each walk.
But, if you chose to follow a route, you will need proper outdoor clothing, like boots, extra layers, waterproof clothing, spare food. You should be happy reading a map and using a compass. Oh and I don't guarantee that you won't get lost! Be prepared!
